A brand new UK trailer of the film The Iron Lady, starring Meryl Streep in the role of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has just been posted on The Daily Mail (via The Playlist). This is a film eagerly awaited not only for the presence of - always excellent - Meryl Streep, but also for the subject's character and Margaret Thatcher. Jim Broadbent will play her husband Denis Thatcher.
Written by Abi Morgan (Sex Traffic, Brick Lane), directed by Phyllida Lloyd (Mamma Mia), The Iron Lady tells the extraordinary story of Margaret Thatcher, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom between 1979 and 1990. The Weinstein Company plans to release - in a limited number of rooms - The Iron Lady in order to compete for Oscars, December 30, 2011, with output in more theaters in January 2012. The output in France is scheduled February 15, 2012.
