Honda CR-V 2012, travel without change of scenery

The Honda CR-V has surpassed the half and took the opportunity to make a new look! This small SUV just renewed known a great success since its launch in 1997 and intend to remain a leader in its class. The current recipe is still a winner, Honda proposes subtle changes and a higher level of refinement for the fourth generation is about to point the nose of Honda dealers in North America.

Familiar ground
The interior of the CR-V has been redesigned to be up to date without a change of scenery followers of the brand. The lines of the dashboard play the card of the fluidity and modernism. All orders remains well situated as the navigation system is easy to use, this is not the case in such an Agreement. Gone are the days of the big center button decked in a thousand orders! The top screen also contains some indications of assisted driving, as the image captured by the rear camera offered as standard equipment on all versions. That's a nice surprise from Honda which sometimes used to drastically cut in the basic equipment accessible versions.

Up front, we see that the center console now button on the dashboard rather than leaving a blank space. The storage compartments are, therefore, more and practice at a time. As for the bucket seats, it should be noted that the seat cushion is still a bit short and does not provide the necessary support under the knees. People will be small, however, not affected by this small gap. At the back, you appreciate the good angle of the doors. A perfectly flat floor provides adequate comfort to the passenger seated in the center. The seat folds down with ease thanks to a control located in the trunk. In no time, the application and fold the seat to make room for a loading area slightly increased on the fourth generation. Of course, all divided by a ratio of 60/40.

As for trunk space can be described as satisfactory despite the rounded body panels. Such a design, however, comes an average visibility to the rear. The addition of storage cavities on the sides would have been welcome to place the bottle washer or other.

It can be recognized!
The exterior design has several innovations. Nevertheless, it is easy to recognize the CR-V because everything has been done subtly and not so revolutionary as was the case for the 2006 Civic. We thus find a bottom of black plastic body that extends around the wings, while the taillights are reminiscent of certain creations of the Swedish brand Volvo. High marks go to the grille which generates a dynamic evident. The new high-end Touring version is more stylish with chrome elements that tell us that it is a CR-V luxury. In short, the style becomes more refined, but messes up anything either.

A good mill
The powertrain remains unchanged for 2012. The famous 4-cylinder engine delivers 185 horsepower 2.4-liter that move properly CR-V. The times are still a little soft when on 2nd gear, but otherwise the overall performance of the proven mechanical will satisfy most buyers. As is the case since 2007, there is a 5-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment, which uses a low viscosity oil to reduce friction components. The possibility of using the Econ mode ensures minimum fuel consumption, but ensures that driving becomes a bit sterile. A return to the manual transmission would be interesting, because it worked fine on the first generation CR-V. Finally, various less visible innovations can be found on this new generation: power steering, under-vehicle aerodynamic structure stiffened.

As for the motor, a choice of 2 or 4 wheel drive is available depending on version. The latter mode (Real Time AWD) is not permanent, but shall take office upon all departures. In stock, traction goes to the rear wheels if necessary. All this is not designed for off-road driving, but does well the game on snowy surfaces. Again, Honda has chosen to develop what was already in place rather than change everything. A wise decision!

A safe bet
It is competitive, the segment of small commercial vehicles! Honda knows it, which explains why the new generation CR-V opts for caution with respect to its redesign. Second vendor after the Civic, this car now assembled in Canada (Alliston, Ontario) has a prominent place in the Honda range. Refining here and there the CR-V, the Japanese brand makes sure to keep its place on the podium. The 2011 version is also interesting and will be available until the end of the year, because only in winter that the 2012 vintage will arrive on our roads. Like what, every good thing knows how to wait!
