Open Question: My computer must have a vicious virus, is there any help?

I have a acer aspire 5520 running Vista sp2. Internet works, but i can not access ALOT of files. I keep getting 'host process blah blah." I am unable to download anything, especially any spyware removal tools, shows a win32 error. I have tried start, run, regedit, and it is not there. I have found it but i still can not access it because of the win 32 error. AArrrrgggHHHH!!! So, do i beat it with a bat or is there even a glimmer of hope? Thanks for any and all help in advance!
